PKMS PTO GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

  • Old Business –Recap - President report
    • Snack Cart – widely successful; next one will be 10/25; Jillian to shop
    • Spirit Wear Order – to be delivered today; will discuss timeline for opening up orders again
    • Kona Ice – wristbands ordered to speed up process; 396 students participating = $396 profit this month
  • Fundraising – Read A Thon – President & Group
    • October 14 -25th to run concurrently with the Book Fair
    • Michelle signed up on the Read-a-thon site – will receive starter pack; 80% of profits back to PTO
    • We will be offering incentives throughout the program
    • Top 10 students get to have dodgeball game vs. staff, Grade level competition for extra black top time; HR that collects most money treated to special lunch; One HR per grade level with best decorated door will get a pop up snack cart; Teachers of highest earning grade level will receive a special breakfast; incentive for reaching $25,000 to be determined
    • Becky mentioned reaching out to Adria Myers about painting the spirit rock for Read-a-thon; Jen to check dates for availability
  • PTO Committee’s – Board Report
    • Sponsorship – New sponsor – Travel with Anna Swenson – Jen to add links to website on PTO website and Facebook; Board to follow up with other local businesses; Need to price out sponsor recognition banners
  • Book Fair – Group
    • SignUp Genius for volunteers already live
    • PTO to provide cash box for change
    • Author visit postponed to later in the year
  • Teacher Lunch – Group
    • SignUp Genius for volunteers and food items already live; posted on Facebook; Jen to also send link in newsletter
  • New Business – Open Floor
    • Empire Spirit Night – October 9th; Jen to add to newsletter
    • Checkers Game – November 8th – chorus to perform at halftime; tickets are $16; PTO covering ticket cost for performing chorus members and Mrs. Bard; if 100 tickets are purchased, PTO gets $5 from every ticket; Kendra to get link for purchasing tickets
    • Chorus also performing at nursing home near Baxter as community outreach
    • Veteran’s Breakfast – Friday, November 8th: Michelle to find out time from Ms. Vasquez; Jillian to reach out to Chick fil-a about providing or possible discount on Minis Platter
  • Principal Report – Grey Young
    • Year is off to a good start
    • Open to silly incentive for Read-a-thon goal
